Project Objective:

             The project assist the industrially and economically underdeveloped, and geographically remote states of the northeastern region (Arunachal Pradesh, Megalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura), Jammu & Kashmir, and the Union Territory  (UT) of Andaman & Nicobar Islands to expand capacity and improve the quality and efficiency of technician (Polytechnic) education to meet the specific economic needs of each state. The project also aims at increasing access of some disadvantaged sections of society (women, scheduled tribes and rural youth) to technician education and training.

 Project Components:

                            Capacity Expansion          

• Construction of Academic and  Administrative residential buildings

• Starting of 04 new courses.

• Establishment of 06 extension centres with VAST Connectivity

• Establishment of institution support infrastructure

• Introducing continuing education and non-formal training programs for industry and community.

• Modernizing existing laboratories and workshops

• Developing / revising curricula to meet the labour market needs as well as imparting entrepreneurial skills.

• Improving staffing and imparting staff training.

• Increasing utilization of learning resources and media.

• Promoting interaction with industry and community.

• Providing substantial academic, financial and administrative autonomy with accountability.
• Networking of Polytechnic with other institution and other organization.

·              03 Extension centres with VSAT Connectivity in remote islands established Hutbay, Rangat, Cambellebay.

·              Academic autonomy granted under Maharashtra Board of Tech. Edn., Mumbai.

·              NBA accreditation obtained for all courses.

·              Almost all the faculty and support staff imparted training in reputed institution / industries of mainland.

·              About 500 Polytechnic students imparted Industries attachment training in reputed industries of mainland.

·              Multipoint Entry & Credit system introduced in 06 courses.

·              24  Nos. of Labs & Workshops have been modernized with sophisticated and latest equipments.

·              09 new Labs have been established.

·              Number of Community Development Programs conducted in Polytechnic and Extension Centres.

     1.  Institute has the been strengthened to provide service support to various department of administration.

                  a. Local Area Networking of more than 10 departments

                  b. Software Development ( Electricity Billing, Vehicle , Registration and Driving License , Port Management Software,
                      Salary Software etc.)

     2.  Increasing the employability for diploma passed out in mainland  firms.

     3. Increased exposure of staff and students to reputed industries and training in mailland.

    4. High demand course viz. Post Diploma in Marine Engineering ( PDME), Diploma in Hotel Management & Catering Technology,
        Deck Cadet Course.

         having good job potential introduced. Other high demand marine courses viz. Near Coastel Voyage (NCV) & Training for

         Cadets/Crew are in pipepline.

    5. Better placement oppurtunities - Companies like HCL, TVS, Siemens started recruiting Polytechnic students after campus
        interview

    6. Employability of pass outs increased by 30%.

    7. Significant improvement in teaching-learning process.

    8. Overall development in approach for both staff & students.

    9. Development Communication Network (DCN) through VSAT established in remote Islands which proved to be an effective
       mode of

        communication during the recent disaster . It provide service to 2000 families through Video Conferencing by helping them to
        find

        out the welfare of their relatives when all other mode of communication link failed

   10.  Short term skill oriented courses started for school dropouts assisting them to get self/wage employment.
