Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Govt. Polytechnic, Port Blair is the first Polytechnic
and probably the second technical institute in the country after I.I.T.
CHENNAI to have been accredited with ISO-9002 Certification on 18th May 1999
from Bureau Veritas Quality International, channai.
With the growing technological advancement and invasion of more and
more Multi Nationals in India, majorities of the technical institute are
found wanting in terms of providing skill man power as per the industrial
demand.
Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Govt. Polytechnic, being the only premium
technical institute in these Islands found that from the 1995 or so, its
product are finding employment problem in the Islands in the absence of any
major industrial base. keeping in view the above factors, the institute had
no option but go for quality improvement in delivery system so the product's
(students) can compete at the national level. On 13th June ,2003 the exiting
ISO system was upgraded to the New Quality Standard ISO 9001-2000.
The system has the in-built quality improvement and assurance program
that are carried out for periodically for its effectiveness.

MANAGEMENT REVIEW MEETING
The M.R reviews the quality system status with top management.
Corrective action are taken to eliminate the actual process of non
conformities and preventive action are initiated to eliminate the causes
identify in the student's , education process and system.
All these activities are documented and time bound ensuring the system is
quality assured.
All the quality improvement techniques are interdependent on each other and
software created which has the following data.

An organization needs to ensure that it
has established what its process are , how they interact with each other,
what resources. When the above has been established then a system for the
control of documentation has to be established together with the Quality
Manual and controls for looking after records.

The management at the highest level in
the organization will need to be conversant with this important section of
the standard. Its their responsibility to set policies , objectives and
review the system as well as communicating the effectiveness of the systems
with in the organization.

NATIONAL BOARD OF ACCREDITATION
Two diploma courses COMPUTER ENGINEERING & ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING was
awarded NBA by AICTE with effect from 12th sept.,2003 for 5 years. Civil , Electrical , and Mechanical Engineering diploma courses were awarded
NBA from AICTE with effect from 2004 for five years.
